Privacy policy

Geared Gaming ("we", "us") is published by Type 5 Marketing LLC. This page explains what we collect and what we do with it.

The short version

• We run no advertising network and no third-party ad trackers.
• We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. To anyone. Ever.
• We use Google Analytics to understand which pages are useful, and Amazon's affiliate cookie when you click through to buy something.
• If you email us, we keep the email so we can reply to it.

What we collect

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to see which pages people read and which links they click. It collects things like the pages you visit, roughly where in the world you are, your device type and browser, and how you arrived at the site. We use this to work out which guides are worth writing more of.

Google Analytics sets cookies in your browser. You can block them with a browser setting, an extension, or Google's own opt-out add-on. The site works exactly the same either way.

Affiliate links (Amazon Associates)

When you click one of our Amazon links, Amazon sets a cookie so it can attribute a resulting purchase to us. That cookie is Amazon's, set on Amazon's domain and governed by Amazon's privacy notice.

We never see what you bought. Amazon reports aggregate earnings to us, not your identity, your basket, or your order.

The contact form

If you use our contact form, we receive the name, email address and message you send. We use them to reply to you and for nothing else. The form also records the time it was loaded and your IP address — purely as a spam defence (to detect bots and rate-limit abuse) — and neither is used to profile you or build a marketing list.

What we don't do

• No ad network. There are no display ads on this site and no ad-tech trackers riding along with them.
• No data sales. We do not sell, rent or trade your information.
• No newsletter you didn't ask for. Emailing us does not sign you up for anything.
• No accounts, no passwords. There is nothing to log into, so there is nothing of yours to leak.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR in the EU/UK, or the CCPA in California), you may have the right to request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it.

In practice we hold very little: analytics data that is not tied to your name, plus any email you have sent us. To make a request, email Info@gearedgaming.com and we will action it.

Children

This site is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Material changes will be noted here rather than quietly slipped in.
