Almost every “wireless” gaming device uses one of two completely different radios, and the difference decides how it feels. 2.4GHz is a dedicated low-latency link that talks to a little USB dongle: fast enough that you cannot feel it, which makes it the competitive choice. Bluetooth is a general-purpose, universal radio built into phones, laptops, tablets and TVs: endlessly convenient and very power-efficient, but with higher and more variable latency you can feel in fast games. The best answer for most people is a device that does both— 2.4GHz at the desk, Bluetooth on the move.

Confusingly, both radios live in the same 2.4GHz band, so “2.4GHz wireless” as a product label means the dedicated dongle protocol, not Bluetooth, even though Bluetooth also operates at 2.4GHz. That single naming overlap is the source of most of the confusion around wireless gear, so it is worth untangling once, properly, because it applies identically to your mouse, your keyboard, your controller and your headset. 2.4GHz: a dedicated radio built for speed

You do not have to choose a side, because the smartest gear does not.
